20 arrested to stop series of gang violence in Male'

Police reports it has made 20 arrests in an effort to stop the rise in gang violence in Male', with another young man left injured in a stabbing on Sunday night.

The latest stabbing took place near Islamic University at approximately 8:50 pm, Sunday night.

The 18-year-old injured was taken to ADK Hospital with critical injuries.

He lost movement of his body shortly after he was taken to the hospital.

Police media official reported on Monday morning that the authority had arrested 20 suspected gang members and confiscated three motorcycles after the latest stabbing.

The recent spike in gang violence in Male’ saw three street fights leaving three people injured within the space of a single week.

Police have made multiple arrests in connection with the violence.
