Whereabouts of woman who abandoned child still unknown

Police have still not been able to locate the woman who abandoned her newborn baby boy after giving birth to him in Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

The baby boy, born prematurely on October 19, is being taken care of in IGMH until he gains enough weight.

The child is under State custody, and is expected to be transported to Children’s Shelter

“Fiyavethi” in Hulhumale’ after he is discharged from the hospital.

Officials from IGMH reports that the woman had fled the hospital without filling out the paperwork, making locating the family of the abandoned infant difficult.
