Family says man who issued bomb threat is a mental patient

Family of the man who issued a bomb threat to State hospital - Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital – has informed the police that the man is a mental patient.

The 29-year-old man from H. Dh. Kurinbee issued the bomb threat over social media on Sunday.

Brother of the man informed “Sun” this Tuesday that the man was diagnosed with a mental illness, and had been receiving treatment for the problem since seven years back.

He said the bomb threat was an empty threat.

“We have submitted the papers to police. He had been doing better, but took a turn for the worst recently,” said the brother.

The brother said the man had developed discontent towards IGMH after failure to get treatment at the hospital recently.

Police reported the case was being looked into, but did not release any details.
