Abandoned newborn still in IGMH

Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) reports the newborn abandoned by mother after birth was still being treated at the hospital.

IGMH media official reported that the newborn baby boy was given birth to prematurely, and was still being treated at the hospital.

“He is admitted until he gains enough weight as he is a premature baby. The child is in stable condition,” said the official.

The woman had given birth to the baby boy on October 19 and left without filling out any information so the hospital does not have any contact information on the woman or her family.

The child has been placed under protective custody of the State.

He is expected to be transferred to the Children’s Shelter “Fiyavathi” in Hulhumale’ after the hospital releases him.

Police are searching for his mother.
