Elections Commission (EC) has announced for applicants who will be hired to work at polling stations as officials during the upcoming Local Council Election.
EC announced that the applicants should not have any family ties with any of the candidates who will be competing in the election, should not be serving a top post within any political party, and should not be an activist for any political party.
The applicants need to participate in a training program which will be held from January 1 to 12, 2017.
Applicants will be given marks according to education, work experience, and experience in officiating previous elections.
Special priority will be given to applicants who volunteer to officiate the election in polling stations in resorts, industrial centers and prisons; and wish to re-register in polling stations in such places.
EC warned that no applicant who has been deemed untrustworthy for any reason in officiating any of the last three elections will not be selected, no matter how high such an applicant may score.
Officials will be paid at the rate of MVR 400 to MVR 1,300 during the day of election.
Local Council Election is scheduled for January 14, 2017.
