Police have entered the PPM Office at Henveiru Themaa with a court order while a meeting of the PPM’s faction of the former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom was ongoing.
The court order to conduct a search at the Office said that it was issued to find evidence of the missing items from the PPM Office.
According to the court order, Themaa is the former Office of PPM and the current office of the party is at Henveiru Coral Reef. And so the court order said that five computer hard drives and other documents of the party were missing when the office at Themaa was cleared and the goods were transferred to Coral Reef.
Police entered the office with the Secretary General of PPM’s Maumoon faction, Abdul Aleem who was summoned to the Police Station tonight.
He was taken from the Police HQ to the PPM Office in a Police vehicle. And he was shortly taken back from H. Themaa to his residence where the Police conducted a search.
Police released Aleem after conducting the search with him in custody.
His phone, however, was confiscated by the Police.
Maldives Police Service also summoned the Assistant Registrar of PPM, Fathimath Shaheeda to the HQ and questioned her in relation to the missing items.
Talking to the press after the meeting at Themaa, the son of President Maumoon, the MP for Dhiggaru constituency, Faaris Maumoon said that nothing inside the office was damaged.
