7-year prison sentence to man who stabbed lover

Criminal Court has sentenced a man who stabbed his lover over a quarrel to seven years in prison.

Court sentenced Ismail Jaleel, 33, from Ma. Gajuraage in Male’ this Sunday afternoon.

His lover is 19 years of age.

Criminal Court ruled that it found Ismail Jaleel guilty beyond reasonable doubt of stabbing his lover on her back, hand and thigh inside the shop “Children’s Choice” – located near Ma. Gajuraage – on July 17, 2015 – based on evidence and witness testimony.

Ismail Jaleel denied the charge.

The ruling says Ismail Jaleel stabbed the 19-year-old woman on the back with a 9-inch long weapon, and that he had dug the weapon deep into the woman’s thigh during the attack.

Ismail Jaleel was sentenced based on law prohibiting menace, and ownership of lethal weapons

or sharp objects.
