Day 6: Search continues for missing tourist couple

Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) reports that search and rescue efforts have been ongoing non-stop for the tourist couple who went missing while out snorkeling near Makunudu Island Resort.

The couple, who were vacationing at Makunudu Island Resort went missing last Wednesday, October 19.

The nationality of the couple has not been released.

MNDF information officer, Major Adnan Mohamed reported that the authority was continuing its air and sea operations to find the two missing tourists.

He said that up to October 22, they had searched 4,412 square meter area by sea and air, diving a further 25-meter area under the ocean.

Major Adnan said that the search and rescue operation was being run as intensively as the weather permitted.
