Judging for the nominations from Sri Lanka for the most prestigious tourism award in the region, the South Asian Travel Awards (SATA) has started in Sri Lanka.
The nominations for SATA awards held this year in association with the Colombo Chamber of Commerce will be judged by experts in the tourism industry from India, Sri Lanka and the Maldives.
While fifty percent of the marks are awarded from the judging panel, the remaining fifty percent is earned through online voting. The online voting has now been opened.
Nominees from each country would be judged at their respective country. And so the judging panel completed their visit to the Maldives and left for Sri Lanka yesterday.
As the Sri Lankan nominees are set to be judged until Tuesday, the showcasing of the nominees are being held at the year's SATA host, the popular luxury hotel, Mt. Lavinia.
Awards would be presented in 39 categories in ten segments at the SATA Gala and Award Ceremony held on 15 and 16 November, organized by HigbRise Events from the Maldives.
