Hitachi Aqua-Tech Engineering has been awarded a USD 1.5 million project to build a RO (Reverse Osmosis) Plant to provide water to the land reclaimed as part of Hulhumale’ Development Project II.
Reverse osmosis is a process through which salt water is converted into clean water, which can be used for drinking and bathing.
The agreement for the project was signed between Managing Director of MWSC (Male’ Water and Sewerage Company), Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed and Managing Director of Hitachi Aqua-Tech Engineering, Singapore, Tang Chay Wee, in a ceremony held at MWSC this Sunday.
Managing Director of MWSC, Fazul said that the building in which the RO Plant situated, will be completed by end of this year. And that the power plant which will provide electricity to the area will also be completed by end of this year.
He said the RO Plant would be completed within a seven-month period.
“As Hulhumale II is a priority to President Yameen, it is our target to establish water services in the area by 2018,” said Fazul.
