Local Government Authority (LGA) has joined Maldives Hajj Corporation’s Employees Scheme, which will allow its employees to perform the hajj and umrah.
The agreement for the deal was signed in a ceremony held at LGA headquarters this Monday by Vice President of LGA, Moosa Naseer Ahmed, and Managing Director of Hajj Corporation, Yameen Idhrees.
Speaking to press, Yameen said that the scheme would provide every employee working for LGA with a more convenient opportunity to perform the hajj and umrah pilgrimage.
Employees who enroll in the scheme can set aside an amount of their choosing from each month’s salary for the pilgrimage.
“The most effective use of this scheme would be for everyone to allow an amount of their choosing to be appropriated from their salary each month via their workplace. So this is an easy and planned scheme,” said Yameen.
He said that a total of 32 organizations had signed up for the scheme so far.
He said that the scheme was receiving huge popularity.
Yameen also said that LGA signing up for the scheme would encourage council offices to sign up as well.
“Especially LGA joining the scheme, this has paved the path for island councils, atoll councils, and city councils to join the scheme in the future,” said Yameen.
