Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) staff who stopped work last Thursday, October 13, in protest at H. Dh. Kulhudhuffushi Port have resumed work.
All but one of its 47 staff at Kulhudhuffushi had stopped work in a strike in demand of a pay rise.
MPL media official spoke to “Sun” this Saturday and said that CEO of MPL, Mohamed Junaid had travelled to Kulhudhuffushi along with a team of MPL officials from Male’ and talked to the striking staff.
The media official said that all but one of the staff had agreed to return back to work. And that they had been informed that the company cannot make an immediate increase in salary.
The team from Male’ has now returned back to the city.
MPL is on the brink of opening a 22-bed guesthouse in Kulhudhuffushi to counter the loss to the company from its Kulhudhuffushi site.
