While MRDC was contracted the digs and pipe installation of the project for MVR 798,180, MWSC was contracted to provide the pipes, the welding work and the providing and installation of the fire hydrants for MVR 3.9 million.

A total of 12 fire hydrant systems are to be installed on Majeedhee Magu in two phases. The agreements signed today were for the first phase of the project which is due in February 2017. The second phase is estimated to be completed with the same year according to MNDF.

Speaking at the ceremony, Commanding Officer of the MNDF Fire and Rescue, Abdulla Zuhuree said that fire incidents are on the rise in Malé City and the damages from the incidents are higher since the water needed against the flames are not readily available.

He said that the installation of fire hydrants on Majeedhee Magu would lighten the load in fire incidents on that road and reduce the damages caused by fires.
