Chinese assisted civil servant training begins

“Executive Training Program for Maldives Civil Servants” – held in collaboration between Chinese Academy of Governance and Maldives Civil Service Institute – has begun.

The program was launched in a ceremony held at Maldives Civil Service Institute this Monday by President of Civil Service Commission, Dr. Ali Shameem.

Dr. Shameem said that he was proud that civil servants of the smallest nation within the Asian region was receiving assistance in training by one of the most developed civil servant institutions.

“I warmly welcome this team from China, which came to teach the civil servants of Maldives – who are in dire need of skills and further training.

Shameem said that China was one of the country which had provided the most assistance in developing the civil service sector of the Maldives.

Speaking during the ceremony, Chinese Ambassador to Maldives, Wang Fukang said that Maldives and China had strong ties with one another, dating back to 44 years.

He said that a lot of projects had been planned to further strengthen the ties.

The training program will cover the civil service sector across the country, and will continue for a two-week period.

Civil servants will be trained after being divided into three categories; personal secretaries and director generals, managers and mid-level employees, and then civil servants from all positions.
