Four Maldivians living in Florida, United States, have relocated to safe zones as Hurricane Matthew batters the state.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Maldives announced that the office was in touch with the four Maldivians living in the state, and that they had relocated themselves to a safe zone via its official Twitter account on Saturday morning.
Six people have died in the storm in Florida so farm, with more than one million people in Florida are without electricity, and half a million people have been relocated to safe zones.
The storm is travelling towards Georgia, and people living in coastal areas of both Georgia and South Carolina have been advised to relocate to safe zones.
Hurricane Matthew made its way to US from countries in the Caribbean. The worst of the damage was in Haiti – where Reuters report that more than 840 people have died.
