Vice President of the Parliament and former Chairperson of MDP, Riko Moosa Manik has said that the members of the largest opposition party, MDP, are bored to taking to the streets when they have to on the party related situations.
Speaking on Sun TV’s "50 Minutes" program tonight, Moosa said that a number of people used to take to the streets on MDP events but the party members no longer have that spirit when they do take to the streets and are bored of doing it.
He said that the members would be bored and lack spirit if the leadership title holders are not actively taking part in the events.
“Our party is here. (We) have to register at the Elections Commission. Elections Commission has to give money. But the party’s head office is in UK. Then how are we going to do this?” the former Chairperson of MDP, Moosa said.
Moosa said that there is no longer a purpose to run the party as an opposition with the money from the government and it would be wise to use that money in another way that is beneficial to the people.
The former Chairperson accused the opposition leadership of using the funds from the state budget given to political parties to spend it and stay abroad and smearing the country and destroying the tourism.
Moosa criticized the opposition activities abroad and the MDP’s decision making.
