Economic Ministry has said that they are inspecting the dining businesses to make sure they are up to the regulations.
In his response to a report published by Sun Media regarding the cafés and restaurants outside regulations, Economic Ministry, Mohamed Saeed said that 200 cafés and restaurants were inspected last month alone.
The Minister said that the owners of the businesses are being notified to amend and irregularities noted in the inspection and failure to comply would result in being certain steps being taken against them.
Minister Saeed said that businesses do have the opportunity to modernize and widen their businesses but the violation of the laws of the Maldives would not be allowed in the name of development.
Some cafés and restaurants and Malé City are being shaped to night clubs and bars where some get intoxicated.
