Maldivian national bank, Bank of Maldives has reported that it has sold than USD 1.1 million within three days – from September 4 to 6 – ahead of the Eid al-Adha.
Statistics shared by BML with “Sun” shows that it sold USD 1.1 million within three days Maldivian’s leaving the country ahead of the Eid al-Adha holiday.
The bank said that they were trying to cater to the demand by increasing the amount on dollars sold per ticket from USD 500 to USD 700 this week.
Meanwhile, central bank – Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has expressed concern over the massive outflow of US dollars from the Maldivian economy, encouraging Maldivians to choose travel within the country as opposed to travelling out of the country during the holidays.
