IGMH: Woman had multiple fractures, driver stable

Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has reported that Fathmath Shiuna, 28, had multiple fractures on her body when she died from the accident which took place in Hulhumale’ on Saturday night.

The State hospital reported that 35-year-old Mohamed Shahid - who was driving the motorcycle when a car crashed into it from behind – was now stable.

Media official of IGMH, Zeenath Ali Habeeb spoke to “Sun” and said that Shiuna had been in critical condition when she was brought in, with her jaw, back and right leg fractured.

She had died this Sunday morning without regaining consciousness.

IGMH reported that Shahid, an attorney, had suffered no critical injuries and was physically stable except for a few cuts and bruises.

The accident took place on the street – Nirolhu Magu in Hulhumale’ at around 11:35 pm.

Shiuna is survived by her seven-year-old son.

She had come to Male’ to look after her sister’s children after her mother and sister left the country for hajj.

No arrests have been made yet.
