Maldivian man trampled under train in Lanka

A Maldivian man has died trampled under a train in neighboring Sri Lanka on Saturday morning.

Another Maldivian who witnessed the incident identified the victim as Izhaam Mohamed, 21, from G. Dh. Madaveli.

The incident took place at around 9:15 am.

Madaveli Council has also confirmed the death to “Sun”.

The eyewitness who spoke to “Sun” said that the incident took place in front of Ocean Colombo located in Bambalapitiya neighborhood of Colombo when Izhaam had crossed the train tracks to go to near the water to relieve himself after breakfast.

“There were two people there and apparently the man who died went to relieve himself. He didn’t know the train was coming. The train hit him and he died,” said the eyewitness.

Izhaam’s family reported to “Sun” that he travelled to Sri Lanka last Thursday along with three of his friends.

Izhaam was a Bachelor’s Degree in Sharia and Law student in his last semester at Maldives National University.
