ACC: No corruption in awarding IFAD loans

Anti-Corruption Commission has cleared the State of any corruption involving awarding money for projects funded by International Fund for Agriculture Development (IFAD).

ACC issued its verdict after looking into allegations mentioned after audit on Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture back in 2010.

It was noted in the audit that while only a certain percentage of the cost is supposed to be covered by Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture, the Ministry had, in some instances, covered the full cost.

ACC said that though it was true the Ministry had footed the full cost of the bill in some cases, such arrangements had been made under the agreement that the money would be reimbursed.

ACC said that documents showed the money had been reimbursed by June, 2014.

ACC issued it’s “all-clear” verdict in a statement released this Wednesday.
