Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture, Dr. Mohamed Shainee has launched the fisheries information system – Keyolhu.
The system was launched in a ceremony held at Kandu’ohgiri this Monday morning.
Speaking to reporters, Dr. Shainee said the new system would completely revolutionize the fisheries industry, and would be a convenient information source for foreign parties which wish to purchase Maldivian fish.
“One of the biggest advantages is minimization of delays in reporting to those we have to report to – parties which oversee the fisheries industry,” said Shainee.
He announced that a mobile application would be launched very soon for fishermen, through which they can send their reports.
Shainee said that the system – Keyolhu – would provide a solution to delays in receiving certification to export fish. He said that what took 8 hours can now be “done automatically within a minute.”
