Football coach Ihusan Abdul Ghanee (Saanthi) has been appointed Chairman of Maldives Sports Corporation – created under Sports Act.
President of Privatization Board Mohamed Nizar has confirmed the appointment to “Sun”.
Three members have already been appointed to the Board, with Abdul Razzaq Ibrahim given the title of Managing Director.
Maldives Sports Corporation is a 100 percent state-owned corporation – created under the Sports Act which took affect September 7, 2015.
Responsibilities of the Corporation include developing sporting structure in Maldives, developing its assets and the sports channel.
It is also responsible for creating opportunities for youth to join the sporting industry, developing their capabilities, and finding more training opportunities to hone the country’s athletes’ skills and talent.
