Youth finds possible ambergris on Eid holiday to Kumundhoo

A young man on Eid holiday to H. DH. Kumundhoo has found what may possibly be a 47 kilo ambergris.

The young man – who comes from a family in Male’ – is married to a woman from Kumundhoo.

He found the ambergris on Saturday morning at around 9 am while at the beach with the couple’s child.

Kumundhoo Island Council has confirmed this to “Sun”.

The item believed to be an ambergris was dark in color, and weighed 47 kilos.

The young man said that all those who say it has so far said that it was indeed an ambergris.

“Everyone on this island who has seen it has said it’s an ambergris. Now we are going to run tests on it to make sure,” said the young man.

He said that it would be checked whether it was indeed an ambergris and then valued and sold.
