Officer transferred after discovered in compromising position with a married woman

A police officer stationed at G. A. Vilingili was transferred to another island after he was discovered by locals alone at night, with a married woman.

Police information officer Ismail Ali spoke to “Sun” and said that some locals from the island had protested against the police officer – Abdul Ghanee Ibrahim - after he was discovered by them alone with a married woman at around 10:30 pm, Friday night.

He said that locals had gathered outside Vilingili Police Station to call out for the officer to be taken off the island.

“The police officer has now been transferred to another island,” said Ismail.

He added that the protests had not escalated into violence.

The police officer was discovered alone with the married woman in an uninhabited plot of land in the reclaimed area of Vilingili by a group of young men.

An internal investigation into the incident is being carried out by police.
