Maldives Police Service has said that political activities on the road disrupt the flow of traffic and so is banned and MDP would not be allowed to do so either.
A statement issued by the Police today said that MDP has been notified that they would not be allowed to hold their anniversary rally on 11 July and the decision was made after discussing with the party.
Police said that they have decided not to allow any party to hold rallies on the roads due to the complaints from the disruption to traffic and foot-traffic.
In their statement, Police said that the MDP would not be allowed to hold their anniversary rally on Monday night from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m. and will be stopped if they go against the decision.
