Amendments to ACC legal framework sent to AG

Amendments recommended for the legal framework of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has been sent to Attorney General’s Office for review.

ACC said that they have proposed 68 amendments – coming from all the experience they have gained from investigating cases of corruption, legal challenges faced by the Commission, and the changes in criminal justice system with the implementation of the new Penal Code.

The Commission said that some of the amendments were also related to the responsibility and authority of ACC.

“It includes important amendments related to investigating cases with suspects kept in custody, authority to freeze operations during investigation, finding money lost by state through corruption, investigating how civil servants obtain their wealth, and conducting special operations to investigate cases of corruption,” said ACC.
