Ahmed Thiham and Moosa Zameer have been freed after being sentenced to four months in prison for the events that took place following the explosion on board the Presidential Launch, “Finifenma.”
While they were both sentenced to four months and 24 days by the Criminal Court on 19 June 2016, they have been freed for time served since they were credited from the date they went to remand.
They have been in remand for four months now. Information Officer of the Correctional Service, Ahmed Lugman told Sun Media that they were freed on Wednesday.
Both Thiham and Zameer were found guilty of obstruction of justice for boarding the Presidential Launch after the explosion and taking some of the evidence from the crime scene without any protection.
Thiham, at the time was the Head of the EOD at MNDF. And Zameer worked under him.
The former head of President’s Security Ahmed Fayaz Ali RIza (Papa) was also implicated in the crime and was sentenced to two years in prison.
