Thinadhoo land reclamation completed in three weeks

The land reclamation in Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo has been completed in three weeks.

Housing Minister, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu tweeted today saying that the land reclamation was completed this morning.

The MVR 765 million project from the state budget was officially started on 1 June.

The project was inaugurated by the former Finance Minister and the current Vice President, Abdulla Jihad.

A total of 55 hectares of land was reclaimed in the project contracted to Dutch company, Van Oord.

Thinadhoo has had previous land reclamation projects and this time the land was reclaimed from the south of the island.

After the reclamation, a 1852 meter long revetment is to be installed as well by the same company.

While the land reclamation has been completed in Thinadhoo today, the land reclamation at Feydhoo, Addu City, also on the state budget, was completed at the end of May.
