President seeks information on criminals to speed up trials

In an attempt to speed up major criminal trials, the President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has sought information on the criminals involved in the cases.

Sun Media has learned that President Yameen met with investigators and got the information on those involved in the pending cases.

Sources say that the President is working to speed up the trials by filing a request at the Supreme Court to speed up the cases through the Justice System.

Speaking at a meeting earlier in the month, President Yameen said that major crimes are on the rise due to the delay in investigations and trials.

To stop such crimes, the President said that there are things the government can do and are working on it. The President that an effort is also being put through the institute of Police and the judicial process towards resolving the issue.

President Abdulla Yameen said that he has received the assurance that the murder cases at the Supreme Court and Criminal Court would be resolved very soon.
