The Police have said that Mahchangolhi Uthuru MP Mariya Ahmed Didi has being summoned later today for questioning regarding the unrest caused during the dismantling of Usfasgandu.
A statement issued by the Police indicates that Mariya is suspected of having led and encouraged the unrest on 29 and 30 May. Mariya and her allies are also suspected of having caused damage to Police equipment.
Mariya has been summoned to the Police office at 14:30 today.
Unrest was caused in Male’ on the day the Police dismantled the Usfasgandu area. Confrontations took place between the Police and members of the public, where people were injured and Police equipment were damaged.
