Police release photo of 2 wanted in Faathir’s murder

Police have released the photo of a 15-year-old and 21-year-old wanted in the murder of Faathir Mohamed Ali, 14, (M. Sarumaage, Male’) who was stabbed on June 3.

Police have released the photo and name of Ibaadhath Latheef (Love Nest, G. Dh. Thinadhoo) and Irufan Rushdhy (M. Kuriruhge, Male’).

Police have appealed to the public for any information regarding the whereabouts of the two individuals.

Faathir was murdered just as he was leaving his home on the night of June 3.

CCTV footage shows two individuals opening the main door of Faathir's house, and a boy under age of 18 years taking a knife from under his shorts and stabbing Faathir.

He was stabbed again as he made a run up the stairs.

Police have said that Faathir was involved in the gang fight which resulted in the death of another 14-year-old earlier that day – Ahmed Irushaan Hilmy (Ranfaru, K. Kaashidhoo).

Seven individuals have been arrested in relation to Faathir’s death – six of them minors.

Police said that the two murders were the result of a dispute between groups Eagles and Vai Kanmathi earlier on Friday morning getting out of hand.

Suspects involved in the case are mostly minors.
