Maldives take part in Kunming Fair as Country of Honor

Maldives has taken part in the Fourth China South Asia Expo 2016 that began in Kunming, China today, as the Country of Honor.

The expo will be held up to 17 June at the Dianchi International Convention and Exhibition Center.

The Maldives got a space of over 6,000 square feet at the fair along with a separate area to promote the Maldivian tourism. Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has established a special pavilion to promote the Maldives. A total of 17 representatives from MMPRC and nine other companies are promoting tourism at the pavilion.

Aside from tourism promotion, activities displaying the Maldivian traditions and culture are being held at the main stall of the Maldives.

A Maldivian delegation of over 100 representatives from the government, industry partners, performers, craftsmen and artists are taking part in the Kungming Fair this time.

While over 8,000 parties are taking part in the Fair this year, millions of visitors are expected over the six days of the event. The exhibition is held as an opportunity for businesses, investors and tourism sector to expand their market.

China is the biggest tourist market of the Maldives. Over 104,106 tourists visited the Maldives at the end of April 2016 from China alone.
