The third annual Quran competition held by Maldivian Education and Cultural Center in Sri Lanka, popularly known as Sosun Villa, was inaugurated on Saturday.
Third Secretary of Maldivian High Commission in Sri Lanka Abdul Rasheed, who is in charge of running MECC, reported that the competition would be held from June 11 – 12.
Abdul Rasheed said that total 191 students studying at the MECC would be competing in five age categories in the competition.

77 children will be reciting Quran off the book and 61 children will be reciting Quran by heart.
This year’s competition is sponsored by Gulhi Falhu Investment and Co-sponsored by Thilafushi Corporation.
The judging panel is made up of famous Maldivian Quran teachers Hassan Thaufeeq, Ibrahim Shifau and Ismail Shafeeu – who teaches Quran at the MECC.

Abdul Rasheed said that male and female winners would be selected separately from each category.
