3 from Himandhoo arrested for obstruction of justice

Three people from A. A. Himandhoo have been arrested for obstruction of justice when police officers went to the island last week to enforce a court order to transport a two-and-a-half-year-old toddler living with his father in the island to Male’, into the custody of his mother.

Clashes ensued between locals of the island and police officers when the police officers, along with social workers from Ministry of Gender went to the island last Wednesday.

Police reported to “Sun” that the three people from Himandhoo were arrested on Friday.

Police reported that the arrests went peacefully.

The toddler’s father was also arrested that day, and ordered to 5 days under house arrest.

The toddler is now in custody of his mother.
