Sentencing hearing in the case against the Chief Magistrate of the Alifu Dhaalu Maamigili Court, Ahmed Nihan in an attempt to arrest the President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom with a false court order has been scheduled for tonight.
Criminal Court decided to hold the hearing tonight at 10 p.m.
Although Magistrate Nihan has three charges brought up against him, he would be sentenced on the terrorism charge alone.
The State presented witness testimonies against Nihan during the course of the trial.
The witnesses testified that the former Prosecutor General (PG), Muhuthaz Muhusin arrived at the island from Malé City and opened the court and was with Magistrate Nihan inside the Court. And the witnesses also told how Magistrate Nihan acquired the key to open the Court that night.
Criminal Court sentenced the former PG, Muhuthaz Muhusin was sentenced to 17 years in prison last night in the case.
