Leader of Jumhoory Party (JP), Qasim Ibrahim has said that he was not a part of Maldives United Opposition – set up by Maldivian opposition politicians in UK, on June 1.
Qasim tweeted on Saturday that rumors spreading in social media that he supported Maldives United Opposition was untrue.

“Rumors spreading in social media that I said I supported Maldives United Opposition and that I said something regarding President Yameen is completely false,” he said.
Qasim said that though Deputy Leader of JP, Ameen Ibrahim took pictures with Maldives United Opposition – it was not JP’s official stand to support the opposition coalition.
Qasim said that Ameen had been acting on his own since Mayday protest in 2015, and that his actions would be looked into by the party.
Maldives United Opposition is headed by former Maldivian Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed.
