Boat sinks after breaking in half

“Attamas” boat – transporting construction stones from Male’ to V. Fulidhoo - sank under the ocean after breaking into half on Saturday.

An official from Coastguard who worked on transporting the stranded passengers to Male’ said that the boat sank in the middle of Fulidhoo Ocean, along with all the construction stones it was carrying.

He said that only wooden planks were visible.

There were two Maldivians and an expatriate worker onboard the boat when it sank.

One of the Maldivians suffered injuries to his arm and was transported via ambulance to Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital as soon as the Coastguard brought the stranded passengers to Male’.

The boat belongs to Fulidhoo.
