PPM: Maumoon never said he doesn’t want to stand with Yameen

Ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) has said that their leader – former Maldivian President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom never said he would not cooperate with the current Maldivian government.

PPM released a statement on Monday, saying that some media stations were spreading propaganda saying that Maumoon did not want wo stand in support of his half-brother and current Maldivian President – President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.

PPM said that the news reports were completely false with no inkling of truth in them.

The party accused the media stations of releasing such reports with the purpose of creating dissidence within PPM.

And said that they strongly condemned such actions.

PPM said in their statement that the report was first released by a media station citing a PPM council member – but that the report did not include the name of the said council member.

The party said that it was therefore proof the report was false.
