Zahir Naseer passes away

Mohamed Zahir Naseer - who was conferred Most Honorable Order of Distinguished Rule of Izzudheen, Nishaan Izzuddeen Izzathuge Verikan – has passed away.

Zahir Naseer – who made priceless contributions to the country – especially in the field of sports – died at dawn, Wednesday, in his home after a long spell of illness.

He was 87 years old at the time of his death.

His nephew, Mohamed Nashid spoke to “Sun” and said that Zahir Naseer had been ill for about four months. And that he had been dead when taken to hospital by family after he showed no movement.

Zahir Naseer – who was conferred the Most Honourable Order of Distinguished Rule of Izzudheen, Nishaan Izzuddeen Izzathuge Verikan in 2011 – was also awarded National Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to journalism by Maldives Media Council just this month – on May 3.
