Boat hits Tsunami Monument, again

A boat attempting to enter T-Jetty lagoon located to south-west of Male’, carrying water from Vilimale’ hit the railing around the Tsunami Monument Sunday night.

Police informed “Sun” that the incident occurred around 10:55 pm.

Police said they had not received any report of anyone being hurt in the incident. But said that they were investigating the case.

A similar incident occurred last Friday when another boat crashed into the railing around the Tsunami Monument.

The man operating the boat was arrested and then later released by court.

Police said that the man had tested positive for narcotics, and did not have a license to operate a boat.

Police are investigating the case as well.

Tsunami Monument was relocated to the area known formerly as “Thin Ruh Park”, meaning

Three Palm Tree Park, and the area developed at the cost of around MVR 3 million.
