Corrections: Half of his chest would be on the camera when Fayaz is in the toilet

Maldives Correctional Service has said that half of the chest would be on the camera installed in the jail cell of the former Head of the Presidential Security, Ahmed Fayaz Ali Riza (Papa), currently ordered to the remand jail.

When officials from the Correctional Service were questioned at the hearing at the Criminal Court yesterday, they said that the toilet in the cell is not in way it can be closed separately.

And so half of his chest would be on the camera installed in the cell when he is in the toilet.

Officials from the legal team of the Correctional Service said that there are no cameras installed in the cell in a way that violate the human sanctity.

The lawyer of the former Head of the Presidential Security noted other issues regarding the detention of his clients. But the legal team from Corrections said that Fayaz filed no such complaint within the regulations.

And the Judge’s Bench asked Fayaz to file the complaints through the procedure. The Chief Judge presiding over case, Judge Ahmed Rasheed said that if the issues are not resolved, then he can present them in court and the court would look into it and take the necessary actions.
