47 illegal expats arrested from 4 unregistered cafes

Immigration has arrested 47 illegal expatriate workers in the country from four places in Vilimale’ - serving food and beverage to expatriates - unregistered.

Immigration information officer Hassan Haleel informed “Sun” on Thursday that the four places serving food and beverage to expatriates were unregistered. And that the 47 expatriates working in those places were in Maldives illegally.

Haleel said that the expatriates were now under care of Immigration, and that they would be deported.

Immigration is conducting special operations in different parts of the country to control the growing population of illegal immigrants in the country, and sent them away to their home countries.
