Land reclamation begins in Feydhoo

Land reclamation project funded by the government has begun at Feydhoo, Addu City.

A total of 50 hectares of land is set to be reclaimed in the project. After which large rocks would be placed in an area of 1,680 meters.

The project has been contracted to Holland’s Van Oord Company that built the famous Palm Island in Dubai. The company arrived in the Maldives with the dredge last Sunday.

The Feydhoo land reclamation projects costs a total of MVR 168.8 million. MVR 88.8 million of the project is included in the year’s annual state budget.

Housing Minister issued the notice looking for contractors to reclaim land at four islands of Addu City on 27 May 2013.
