Police have said that they had so far made no arrests in the arson attack on Haveeru News office building last April.
Reception area of Haveeru office building was set on fire some time during the early hours of April 29.
When asked about the case on Thursday, police media official said that investigation into the case was ongoing. But that no arrests had been made yet.
The fire was brought under control by officers on duty at Galolhu Police Station – which lies on the next block – before it spread any further.
An eyewitness reported to seeing an individual jump off the outer wall surrounding Haveeru office building before Maldives National Defense Force officials arrived at the scene to put out the fire.
The eyewitness said that the individual had thrown away a bag before fleeing the scene.
There was a zipped bag and a cap lying on the ground when reporters arrived at the scene. And a five-liter bottle inside the bag.
The ownership of Haveeru News – the most established news agency in the country – is currently under dispute at court.
