Arrested Police and Military officers confess to theft

Police have said that four Police officers, two Military officers and two Bangladeshi nationals have confessed to stealing, after being arrested under suspicion of the same.

Police said that the investigation so far has revealed that they had stolen several expensive items and money from foreign nationals on several occasions. Police are searching for one more person in relation to these crimes, but did not disclose any details of this person.

The arrests were made during an operation by the Police and Military on 8 June at 5:30, which was conducted following several reports made to the Police that they worked in groups to enter the residences of foreign nationals and steal from them.

Police said that the case of Police officers being involved in theft is under investigation with high priority, and that legal action will be taken against the officers involved.
