Ministry of Environment and Energy has signed a contract to do a feasibility study on financial and management at the regional waste management centers in Haa Alifu, Haa Dhaalu and Shaviyani atolls.
At a ceremony held at the Ministry this morning, the contract was signed with Maldives Energy and Environmental Company Pvt. Ltd. and Ifrantis Associates Pvt. Ltd. who has are in a joint venture for the project.
The two companies are contracted to do feasibility studies in 40 islands in six months for MVR 3 million.
In today’s ceremony, IJSA Construction was contracted to upgrade the waste management centers in Noonu atoll Kudafari and Raa atoll Vaadhoo.
And Wee Hour Investment was contracted to build a waste management center in Kurinbee in Haa Dhaalu atoll.
Environment Ministry said that it would cost MVR 2.4 million to build and develop waste sites.
