Former Prime Minister of India, Manmohan Singh has been arrested in a protest by the Indian National Congress Party against the ruling Baatharia Janata Party (BJP).
The 89-year-old Manmohan Singh served as the Indian Prime Minister for ten years from 2004 until Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister in 2014.
Indian National Congress Party held a protest against BJP today in front of the Indian Parliament. The Indian Media reported that aside from Ex-Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi and his mother, Congress leader Sonia Gandhi.
These prominent political figures of India were arrested for turning a protest rally against the BJP towards the Parliament. They were held in detention for a short time and was released.
Thousands of Congress supporters participated in the rally today accusing the BJP government of political vendetta by leveling false corruption charges against Congress leaders, toppling elected state governments and muzzling the opposition's voice.
