Baaree: Judges would do whatever it takes to protect the sovereignty of Maldives

The Provisional Head of the Criminal Court, Judge Abdul Baaree Yousuf has said that the judges would do whatever it takes to protect the sovereignty and the sanctity of the Maldivian state.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the joint two-day seminar on Working Against Human Trafficking with the Department of Judicial Administration at Paradise Island Resort, Judge Baaree said that human trafficking is a gateway crime that leads to many other crimes and the judges are doing everything they can through the Judicial System to prevent it.

Baaree noted that all the assistance through the system is being provided to the victims of human trafficking. He said that the government with the collaboration of the Ministries and institutes would continue to fight against human trafficking.

The judge said that much have been learned from the experts from abroad that spoke at the two day seminar.

He sent gratitude to the Maldivian Government, President Abdulla Yameen, Chief Judge Abdulla Saeed and the US Government and thanked for the support from all the institutions on the development and progress in the Judicial System.

Today the judges and magistrates signed an oath to fight against human trafficking.
