First woman hired as MD of a government company

Aminath Sharaahath from H. Kelaamaa Villa has become the first woman to be appointed as Managing Director of a government company.

Sharaahath was appointed MD of state-owned Khazaana Maldives Limited by Privatization Board.

President of Privatization Board, Mohamed Nizar sent out a tweet on Thursday announcing the appointment and congratulating Sharaahath on making history.

Congratulations Aminath Sharahath, been the first woman Managing Director of a State Owned Enterprise.

Sharaahath had been working as Head of Legal Department of Maldives Islamic Bank before being appointed MD of Khazaana Maldives.

She has a first degree in law and master’s degree in Islamic finance.
